AUGUST 2006 INTERVIEW

tiffani_web.jpg

In Ultra Tiffani's latest exclusive interview, Tiffani discusses her new single and album, the Black and White photoshoot and wedding plans! Plenty of more as well so read on...

When we last interviewed you, your first independant single Devil In Your Soul had just been released. A lot has happened since then. Do you have a greater understanding of how the industry operates now that you run your own label?
Since Bardot ended, I had a pretty good idea. I guess the things I've learnt are protocol as in how the radio stations work and that magazines, most of the time, are working up to 3 months ahead.

How did Spin The Bottle become used during the Neighbours promotions earlier this year?
I wrote the song so i have publishers that get their liscensing department to send the song out to all agencies and stations and they sort through music that they think is suited to their particular shows.

How did your latest show in Melbourne at the D&D Ball go?
It was a tough crowd but when I performed my new single I Touch Myself to the MC Mike on stage, they went crazy!

Did you manage to catch up with Katie Underwood?
Yep, it was only for about 5 minutes but it was great to see her. She looked fabulous.

I Touch Myself was a risky song to cover having already been such a big hit for the Divinyls. Are you anxious as to how your version will be received?
No, I just like the song and thought it would suit my voice. I'm not expecting a number 1 as my feelings are it's not always the song that gets the chart possy but the financial backing and push that's behind the song. If it goes well in the charts without radio play then I guess that will throw my theory out the window.

Tell us a bit about the Black and White photoshoot. Was this something you had always wanted to do? Was it an enjoyable shoot?
Actually I had not thought about doing it until I did it. We were in talks and I decided the timing was right. It was one of the coldest days on record and an outside back yard shoot, but hey, I've never heard a professional model say modelling is easy!

How are the marriage plans going?!? And will Ms.Wood be singing a song at her own reception?
There under way and just sorting out a reception venue. Not sure if I'll be singing a song, maybe recieting a poem. I'll probably decide closer to the day.

What CD are you currently listening to?
My own as I have to double check I'm happy with it before I print hundreds of copies.

Are there many shows planned in the next couple of months to support the single and album?
We have a lot of ideas in the works but there's a few things that may restrict the performing aspect, but more about that when we figure out what's happening.

Finally, what we are all dying to hear about – the album! What little teasers can you give fans about what to expect from your new cd?
Well you've heard nearly half of the album already so with the new songs, they're along similar lines. I like to call the sound "trashy pop rock". It has a cheeky phone coversation as the into and then goes straight into it with Devil In Your Soul and ends with a song about reality TV.

Thankyou Tiffani for answering those questions!

JULY 2005 INTERVIEW

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to answer these questions for Ultra Tiffani!
No problem! Thankyou for taking the time to make this website, im really flattered.

So fill us in. What's been keeping you busy?
I've basically been getting involved with promoting the single, performances, the launch and following up and pestering radio to play it more!

You've been gigging around a lot lately; acoustic shows, nightclub appearances and functions. How does it feel to be back on stage, doing what you love and how has the recption been so far?
The reception had been great especially at ARQ. It feels great to do the live thing, I never stopped doing it in between releases but its defenately put the spark back in the fire!

Devil In Your Soul is quite a radical departure from your musical days with Warner. Has the 'devil in your soul', after years of compromise, finally been let loose?
Hehe I think there's a little devil in all of us. It's the way we choose to use him that makes the difference. I use the devil in me to be cheeky in my lyrics and performances.

Can you give us a little insight into the whole 'going independent' process and what it was like getting the ball rolling?
It was a hard decision, but basically it means that everything is under your own control. It's a lot stressful but more rewarding at the end of the day because it's entirely your own work; from the songs, to the look, clip and artwork - I've been able to have a say in everything which has been really satisfying to finally see it out and available to buy.

The clip is quite a flashback from the 80s with the ecentric costumes and colour schemes etc. Was that your idea?
Not intentionally, the colour schemes were but it just happened to have that 80's feel because of the white and red and some of the outfits that were chosen, I've gotta say I've never seen a modern bubble skirt look so fabo, if i do say so myself! (haha)

Being solo, does your history as a member Bardot, close or open doors?
A bit of both, it just depends on what door it is that I'm trying to get open.

You've got a very dedicated bunch at your official forum. How much does that support mean to you?
It means the world, without people supporting me and my music, I wouldnt have the chance to do this independantly so it's fantastic

sophiealbum.jpg

What are your thoughts on Sophie Monk's Calendar Girl album?
I think its a real represen -tation of Sophie, she's got bits of her personality all over it, and after all shes definately a pin up calendar girl, so the title was a good choice.

Are there any other Australian acts you're really digging at the moment?
Missy Higgins. I've never heard a singer being able to tell/sing a story so well.

Tell us about the launch party! It looked like you had a wild night.
It was a huge job doing it all , but i had some great sponsors onboard and fabulous helpers taking time out to give me a helping hand. The night was really fun and I, and as I've heard, the guests had an absolute ball!

Like many of your own fans, you also went to see Delta Goodrem's Visualise tour. What did you think?
I was quite suprised at how well she handled it on her own. She has a great imagination and all the outfits and themes went really well together with the songs. She even tripped over at one stage and like a true professional made a joke about it and got right back up and kept performing.

With Devil now on the shelves, have you got any future plans career-wise? Is there an album or small tour in the workings?
An album is in the works called Bite Your Tongue. It is half finished and should be out either late this year or early next year.

Thanks for the interview tiff and good luck with all your future projects!
Thankyou and thanks to everyone out there that's supported me in my music career so far
